A TWO-DAY, FAMILY-FRIENDLY GATHERING THAT REIMAGINES THE POTENTIAL OF PUBLIC GREEN SPACES
What if a park could become a living classroom? A place where artists, organizers, youth, families, and neighbors of all ages come together to learn, create, and connect?
Over the past five years, the EMC has transformed parks and community gardens across New York City into spaces for shared learning, creativity, and collective action. What began as a question—how can we build stronger, more connected communities—has grown into an annual gathering rooted in collaboration, care, and imagination.
Through workshops, art-making, free meals, and hands-on activities, the EMC invites people to explore ideas around land stewardship, food systems, storytelling, and community-led solutions. Together, we experiment, exchange knowledge, and imagine new ways of being in relationship with each other and the world around us.
At its core, the EMC is about bringing people together—to celebrate, to reflect, and to build toward a more connected and resilient future.
